USCPFA-MN Spearheads July 17th Celebration of 30th Anniversary of Harbin-Minneapolis Relationship

On Sunday, July 17, Minneapolis will once again host the community for “Sister Cities Day” at Nicollet Island Pavilion to celebrate the city’s many Sister City relationships.  This year, the main event will focus on the 30-year Harbin – Minneapolis Sister City Relationship. Once again, the USCFPA-MN will provide and staff a information and activities table, offering participation in Chinese paper-cutting and making Chinese calligraphy bookmarks, as well as maps, prizes and video presentations from our friends in Harbin. We will also arrange for and sponsor a lion-dance troupe, and speakers from both Harbin and Minneapolis will describe the long history of fruitful sister-city exchanges.

The City of Minneapolis provides free ice cream, beverages, and an “anniversary cake” for the public. Over ten Minneapolis sister cities from countries around the world are usually represented at the event, and many of those offer musical, dance, and cultural presentations as well.  The event runs from 1:00 – 5:00 pm, with the featured Harbin speeches and performance beginning at 2:00 pm.  All are welcome!!
