USCPFA-MN Showcases Minneapolis’ Chinese Sister City Harbin at Annual Sister Cities Day

Hong De Lion Dance Troupe

On July 22, Minneapolis hosted its 11th annual “Sister Cities Day” celebration, at Nicollet Island Pavilion next to Minneapolis’ historic St. Anthony Falls. Hundreds of people attended the event, which featured displays from Minneapolis’ Sister Cities, performances from several countries, and free ice cream courtesy of Meet Minneapolis. Our Chapter once again staffed the Harbin Sister City table, with a flat-screen TV showing videos and slides of Harbin sights, books and materials showcasing various aspects of Harbin, and (thanks to the Hong De Lion Dance Troupe) a Chinese paper-cutting activity that was popular with our younger visitors. We also sponsored the Hong De Lion Dance troupe’s performance and Hong De Choy Li Fut Kung Fu demonstration. It’s a great day to celebrate our relationships with our fellow Minneapolis Sister Cities in Asia, Latin America, Europe, and Africa.
