Volunteer Opportunities

1. Sister State and Sister Cities Committees

The Chapter’s Sister City committees include theMinnesota – Shaanxi Sister State Committee, the Minneapolis – Harbin Sister City Committee, and the St. Paul – Changsha Sister City Committee. Committee members plan various cultural exchange programs to strengthen the sister relationships. Volunteers work closely with the University of Minnesota’s China Center, and  the Minnesota China Friendship Garden Society as well.

2. Events & Delegation Hosting Committee

Volunteers offer car tours in the Twin Cities and home meals to visitors. They also assist at various events attended by our Chapter’s members, including the Dragon Boat Festival, the Mall of America’s Chinese New Year celebration, and other one-time events. We like to show great hospitality to our friends from our sister province and cities based on our volunteers’ interests. Volunteers have the opportunity to talk with and learn from government officials and scholars in delegations sent by our sister province and cities, the Chinese Consulate and other governmental, cultural and academic organizations.

3. China Garden Committee

The China Garden Committee publicizes and raises funds for the St. Paul-Changsha Garden at the Phalen Park and Minneapolis-Harbin Garden at the Washburn-Fair Oak Park. For more detailed information, please go here for more on the Minnesota China Friendship Garden Society.

4. Newsletter

With our revived website and communication opportunities, newsletter volunteers are needed to record and summarize the events which are organized and sponsored by the USCPFA-MN. In addition, commentaries on our events and links to articles and other information on US-China friendship are encouraged.

5. Website

Website volunteers assist with the general maintenance of the entire website and update the content upon board members’ request. WordPress, HTML, and CSS skills are encouraged.

6. China Tours

The USCPFA-MN visits the sister state and cities upon the China’s invitation. It is a great opportunity to exchange ideas and experience Chinese culture with our friends. This year the USCPFA delegation went to the 2018 Harbin Ice and Snow Festival and the International Cold Zone Forum at the invitation of the Harbin Foreign Affairs Office.
